Ryan's growing Vocabulary!!

It's been so long since I've posted...running behind a toddler all day keeps you busy! I wanted to do a post today on how much Ryan has learned! Ryan has learned so many words lately...his vocabulary has sky rocketed!! He amazes more and more each day!! Where did my baby go??

He can say apple, me me (my mom), bye, da da, mama, kitty, car, basketball (his absolute favorite thing), pig, Puff (our dog), dor (for Dora), cheese, moo (for cow), quack (for duck), pun bob (sponge bob), go, shoes, choo (when he sees a train), moon, sun, cracker, cookie, slide, bee, pa pa (pacifier), pizza, Elmo, got gog (hot dog), eyes, nose, mouth, ear, teet (teeth), no (while shaking his head), and just last night he said Pluto when we were reading a Disney book.

So we broke out the pool last weekend and filled it up. Ryan wasn't sure about it at first but then once I decided to get in he was more comfortable. He likes to throw everything in there with us...balls, toys, shoes, daddy's tools..you name it! This weekend it is REALLY going to be hot so we plan to get in the pool again!!

Ryan loves playing with his daddy's golf clubs! He did not want to put them down and every time Mike would take one from him, he would cry. Maybe he'll be the next Tiger Woods! He watches his daddy hit golf balls in the yard so he seems to know what to do with the club. He was trying his best to hit the ball! I guess someone needs a set of clubs of their own!! :)

Yesterday Avery came over to play. Her and Ryan had a ball! They played hide and seek, crawled through the tent, ran and squealed, and climbed in chairs ...or stood in them! Ryan even got Avery to pull him in the wagon! When it was time to go, Avery cried and hid in the tent. lol Even Ryan didn't want her to leave- he whined when she left. I think he'll be an awesome big brother one day! :)

Easter 2009!

Ryan had a ball this Easter! This was his first real Easter since last year he couldn't hunt eggs and he just laid around lookin' cute! Last Easter he was 7 weeks old.

He enjoyed picking up eggs. He would put one in his basket and then clap his hands. hahaha It was too cute!

We even visited my dad at the family cemetary for Easter. Ryan took the eggs off of his grave but who cares...dad would've gave them all to Ryan anyway. :-)

We went a couple of weekends ago to Jay and Amy's house. They have a little girl (Lauren) that is 3 months younger than Ryan. It was fun to watch them play and interact with each other! Most of the time though they just played seperately. But when they played together it was so darn cute. I can't wait till Ryan has a sister or brother to play with one day! Here are some pictures of them that I took. Ryan looked like he was trying to be a little helper to her in the first picture! lol He seemed to not mind sharing either.

Ryan loves bath time!! When he hears the water running in his duckie tub, he comes running! You can't get him undressed fast enough. He has now learned how to help you undress him. I couldn't help but to stand his hair up and give him a little mohawk. Then Mike ran to grab the camera. We thought it was so cute! Ryan was laughing and smiling for the camera. He was showing off!

**Sorry it's been so long since I blogged. I'll try to be better about this. Things have been so crazy and busy lately.

RYAN'S FIRST HAIRCUT!

Ryan did pretty good with his first haircut. He was very curious though. Everytime Kate would snipp the scissors, he would want to turn around to see what that noise was! Then when she got the electric shaver out he would not look foward. He was bound and determined to figure out what that loud buzzing noise was! lol

I held him first but then after a while he wanted his daddy to hold him so we switched places and Mike got in the chair. Now my baby looks like a little man. :)

Ryan had about 35-40 guests at his party. I had expected around 50-60 so not too bad of a turn out. He had a ball playing with balloons and getting into his cake. He had icing everywhere! Then after he tore into his cake and me and Mike cleaned him up, it was time for PRESENTS! He got $100 in gift cards, LOTS of clothes, and $100 in cash!! He really racked up!

Today my baby is ONE! Can you believe it? I cannot believe it has already been a year. Time flies when you're having fun! Ryan's birthday party is Saturday, Jan 31. I can't wait and I'm so excited for him. I am making his cake and I will have pics of that and pics from the party in a couple of days. Until then...let's reminisce on some past photos of his birth! :-)

Ryan's FIRST snow!

Today we had lots of snow and it was Ryan's first! We got about 3 inches or so. We only took him out in it for about 10 minutes though. It was sooo cold and the winds were awful!! It felt like 10 degree but it was only 25. The wind was blowing snow around so bad Ryan kept his eyes closed alot. He also wouldn't keep his mittens on. I was lucky he didn't pull his hat off. He hates hats and gloves. Then I made some snow cream this evening and Ryan LOVED it! I can't wait till he is a little bit older so he can enjoy it even more. Take a look at the pictures. Oh and Puff had a good time too so I threw in a picture of him! haha

So..I know it's been a while since I last posted but things have been so busy. Lots of things have happened since my last post! Ryan is now a professional walker!! He is getting around really good and I have a video to prove it. Also we have been so busy planning his 1 year birthday party! Dang, I just can't believe that he will be ONE in just 11 days!!! Ryan has also begun waving at everyone that says hi to him and it is just so darn cute. My baby boy is getting so big and smarter each day! :-)

Ryan had a great Christmas! He got sooo many toys I don't even know where we are going to put them all! He got Elmo Live, clothes, money, hats/mittens, the ball popper, a "Cars" couch, a tent, the Leapfrog musical table, Pizza Elmo, and much much more!! Our living room looks like toy land. We went to 4 different places and everywhere we went he racked up!

Being with Ryan the first time for Christmas was amazing. I've never been happier and it makes me realize just how blessed we are to have this little munchkin in our lives!

Oh Christmas Tree!!

We put our tree and other Christmas decorations up a few days ago! I insisted we do it a couple of weeks ago, but Mike wanted to wait till the weekend after Thanksgiving so he won and we just put it up. Ryan is hell on the tree. He wants to grab at the branches and yank off all the ornaments. He even tried putting the lights in his mouth. Yikes! So needless to say, we have put up a baby gate so that he cannot go into the office (which is where we have our tree this year). We usually put it up in the livingroom but because that is his main play area -we opted to put it up in my office where he hardly goes. We have a 7 foot tree but next year we are hoping to have a bigger one! Let's just hope that Ryan don't tear this one up...at least till Christmas Day!!

Ryan's first SNOW!!

We woke up to our first snow this morning so I grabbed the camera because I don't know how long it's gonna last. We don't see snow very much in North Carolina. I was like a kid being all excited about it. I love snow and wished that we seen it more often around here. They are calling for just a little dusting...nothing major. I'd love to see 6 inches though!! It's not even Thanksgiving and we are already getting the white stuff! I hear our winter is going to be colder and we'll probably see more snow this year. I hope so!! I say being it on!

Ryan at 9 months!

We had his 9 month check up Wednesday. Ryan is 19 lbs, 7 oz! What a growing boy! It's so hard to believe he is 9 months. Time to start thinking about that 1st birthday party!! The ped said to put him on whole milk and I've already been trying it and he seems to be doing well with it. He likes it too. Now he doesn't care much for the formula. Do you blame him? While there, he also got his first flu shot. We go back next month for the second part. And just last week, he got his 2 top teeth so now he has 4! His ped said everything looked good with him and he is right on target. :-)

Ryan's 1st Halloween!!

Halloween was fun. We took Ryan to our parent's houses. Although Ryan can't eat candy, he still got some "treats"! My mom got him some crackers, which he loves to eat now and some baby food and my aunt Cheryl got him some of those stackable rings and a stuffed toy pumpkin that says Happy Halloween. Then at Mike's mom's house he got $20 (which he spent yesterday when we went shopping) and some suckers! Yum!

Although Ryan wasn't feeling the best because he was running a small fever, he still seemed to have a great time. He was sooo cute in his pumpkin costume...although the "stem" hat wouldn't stay on.

What else could be more rewarding than being a MOM?!? Being a mom is the best feeling in the world but man am I soooo busy...phew!! It is more work than I ever thought!! It is 8:00 and Ryan has been put to bed so I thought I'd get on my blog while I have a free minute. Sorry I haven't posted in such a long time but between working, cleaning, cooking, laundry, and tending to Ryan I have no time left!! When I wake up at 7:00, the day get's going and it's non-stop until I go to bed at 10:00! Seriously! It's so hard trying to keep a 9 month old (yes I said 9 months...isn't it hard to believe that he is already 9 months today??) occupied all day...especially when working from home. I'm exhausted!! But at the end of the night when it's time to lay him down for bed and we snuggle in the rocking chair and I sing and kiss him...everything I went through during the day is SO worth it!!!! :)

Ryan has a play date!

Ryan had a play date yesterday with Lauren. She is 5 months old. Our friends, Amy and Jay met us for lunch and then we came back to our house to let the kids play. Those two had such a great time together but unfortunately for Lauren she can't keep up with Ryan just yet. She is rolling around though so that is how she get around. Ryan kept crawling away from the pictures everytime we'd try to get them together. I think he was trying to show off in front of Lauren!! I can't wait till they both are walking. Then they will have a ball!!

Ryan isn't the only one interested in corn puffs and wafer cookies...Puff is too!! I had my back turned today and heard Ryan giggling so I turned around to see Puff standing on his hind legs on Ryan's high chair and he was sniffing and digging out the food that Ryan had dropped. Ryan thought it was the funniest thing and of course I had to grab the camera!

This week Ryan has really got the hang of crawling!! He can be anywhere in just a matter of seconds....especially Puff's water bowl. He is keeping us busy and into EVERYTHING!! Take a look at the video and see for yourself.

Ryan sits up by his self!!!

GOOD NEWS!!! Ryan has started sitting up alone tonight. I mean he has been sitting up by himself but with our help. Now he sits up without our help -from his belly or knees to his butt. Yay!! Then once he sits up, he starts clapping his hands. It is soooo cute! He is doing pat-a-cake and waving too. I can't believe how big and independent my baby is getting!!! One week from today, he'll be 8 months!

Ryan's First Halloween Costume!

So yesterday I bought Ryan's first Halloween costume! He is going to be a pumpkin. I hope he keeps the costume on, especially the hat because he's not really a hat person. I think instead of taking him trick or treating since he can't eat candy, we are going to my grandma's church to a carnival one night (which is what I did as a little girl) and then on Halloween night we are going to take him to my mom's and then to my in-laws to show him off. I can't wait!! I think he is going to be soooo cute. I'll be sure to take pictures!

Ryan's 1st beach trip!!

We took Ryan to the beach for the first time (Sept 10-Sept 13) to Atlantic Beach, NC. Although he is so young, I still think he enjoyed it. We took him down to the ocean and let him feel the sand and water. He didn't know what to think. He just stood there looking down. While at the beach, Ryan learned some new sounds...how to make a noise with his tongue! He was such a happy baby the whole time! He did very well traveling all the way there and back. He entertains himself and us by looking in the mirror and smiling and laughing out. He also done very well sleeping and taking naps in his pack n play. I thought we were going to have some problems but we didn't. He was awesome!

So Wednesday morning, Ryan woke up broke out in hives. We have yet to figure out what they came from. I took him to the doctor Thursday afternoon and the doc can't figure it out either. Poor baby! I hope he isn't uncomfortable and itching. Regardless though, he still seems like himself..happy and squealy as usual!! Mike and I are trying to narrow it down to figure out what it could that is doing this to him. I have washed his sheets, his blanket, and his little bear that he sleeps with. I am also washing anything that is new...bibs, onesies, etc. before he wears them. Another possibility could be the water I am using for his formula. I was using nursery water but then started filtering our well water. Now we are wondering if maybe there is something in our water that he can't handle right now and he is allergic to it. So, while I was out today I picked up some Nursery water and we will try that for a while to see if the hives go away. I hope he gets rid of this..it looks terrible and I hope we get it figured out as to what is causing this.

On a good note, Ryan has now started getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth!! So, hopefully he will be crawling soon! :-)

Ryan says "ma ma"

Ryan started saying ma ma really well over the weekend! And now he is saying it all the time, more than any of the other words he can say. I love it! I can't believe how big he is getting. He turned 7 months old last Friday. My little man is growing up!

Tuesday night me and Mike were playing with Ryan and all of a sudden he said "ba ba". We both looked at each other and said, "did you hear that"? We have never actually heard him say a word. It was just always some ooh and ahh or just some squealing. We were ecstatic! So we started saying ba ba too and he kept saying it. He has been saying it the whole week and just today he added another word to his vocabulary... "bye bye"! Today I had to go to the office for a meeting so when I got ready to leave I said bye bye Ryan and he said bye bye and he kept saying it over and over. I'm so tickled. Maybe it won't be long before he says ma ma and da da too!

First Blog!

I guess I'm a little late, but things have been so busy these first 6 months!

Let's see..Ryan was born January 29th at 8:01 am weighing in at 6 lbs 13.5 ozs and 19 inches long. He was the cutest baby I ever laid eyes on! When he was born he looked just like his daddy. Then his looks started changing quite a bit and he started looking more like mommy!

At his last appointment (2 weeks ago), Ryan was 16 lbs, 11 oz and 27 inches long. Wow what a growing boy! My little man is growing waaay too fast!! He done very well with his 6 months shots, didn't hardly cry a bit...but now the teething is making him very irritable so he has been getting motrin. That seems to help.

Ryan has 2 teeth at the bottom now, he can roll over back to front and front to back, he squeals and screams (he loves to hear his self make noises), he scoots across the room, and he reaches for anything in sight! Also Ryan is eating solids now; his favorites are applesauce, bananas, squash, mixed vegetables, sweet potatoes...did I mention bananas? That is his favorite...he loves anything with bananas in it! His least favorite is peaches. I think it's because they are tart.
